OPENINGS

Director, iMasons Climate Accord

The iMasons Climate Accord (ICA) was born at a meeting of iMason’s Advisory Council, the global leaders of the digital infrastructure industry, to find the one thing the industry could do together to accelerate progress on climate change. The ICA was announced in April of 2022 at DataCloud Monaco with 73 signatory companies, including AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, 20+ leading colocation operators, and other global leaders. As of March of 2023, the ICA has skyrocketed to more than 200 companies. Are you the right person to lead these leaders to change the world?

ICA is a program of Infrastructure Masons, overseen by a Governing Body (GB) including reps from AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, iMasons, Digital Realty, and Schneider Electric, and in March is launching Work Groups to focus on decarbonizing data center Power, Building Materials, and Capital Equipment. We are looking for a Director to work closely with the GB members and Work Group Leaders to ensure the ICA is realizing its potential to decarbonize digital infrastructure globally.

Your role will be part evangelist, part program manager, and part fundraiser. The ideal candidate will have experience and connections in the digital infrastructure industry, experience in sustainability and especially carbon (Scope 3 embodied carbon in products and in grid power production), experience with carbon accounting in the built environment, and experience managing complex initiatives and organizations with significant volunteer management.

We need someone to organize and support the GB, develop and express their strategy, and engage and inspire the global iMasons community to execute it to rapidly reduce carbon emissions associated with our industry. You will be supported by Brightworks Sustainability, a consultancy with extensive experience in carbon and data centers, and the iMasons staff for marketing and comms support, event planning and execution, financial reporting, etc. iMasons has in-region Directors and Local Chapters globally who are eager to support the work of the ICA, giving it rapid global reach.

The position will be full-time, salaried, and work-from-home with some domestic and international travel. You can live anywhere in the world. Expect to spend a lot of time in Zoom meetings! The current GB members and iMasons staff are mostly in the western US (PST time zone) and Europe (CET time zone).

iMasons has a strong diversity and inclusion policy and encourages all interested and qualified people to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Increase the number of companies participating in the ICA, and support the existing members to maximize their benefit and contribution.

Increase participation in the “ICA Movers” program, ICA’s initial source of funding.

Work with the Governing Body members to develop and gain their active support for a strategy, 3-year plan, budget, and resource plan for ICA. Facilitate the GB’s regular meetings.

As an agent of the GB, oversee and coordinate the Work Groups, made up of volunteers from the industry, who are doing the work to move the industry forward. Help ensure the WGs are making good progress.

Working with iMasons Marketing staff, plan ICA external communications – website, newsletters, blogs, articles, presentations at conferences, etc.

Working with iMasons Event staff, plan and support ICA’s presence at iMasons meetings and industry conferences and events worldwide.
