Working Groups

The work of the Climate Accord is done by iMasons members worldwide in Working Groups (WGs), each with a time-bound mission defined by the Governing Body (GB). The GB is now accepting applications from individuals to lead the first three of the following WGs:

  • Power WG – The goal is to decarbonize data center power in all markets worldwide by enabling transparency of carbon content of power on a real time basis and building market-based incentives to source zero carbon power 24/365. The initial deliverables and deadlines will be established in consultation with the GB.
  • Materials WG – The goal is to decarbonize data center building materials by enabling transparent communication of embodied carbon and building market-based incentives to select zero carbon materials. The initial deliverables and deadlines will be established in consultation with the GB.
  • Equipment WG – The goal is to decarbonize data center equipment by enabling transparent communication of embodied carbon and building market-based incentives to select zero carbon equipment. The initial deliverables and deadlines will be established in consultation with the GB.
  • Maturity Model WG – The goal is to develop a way to evaluate and communicate progress toward decarbonization. This WG is being led by the iMasons Sustainability Committee. To get involved please join that committee. The initial deliverables and deadlines will be established in consultation with the GB.

APPLY TO LEAD A CLIMATE ACCORD WORKING GROUP

Applications to lead a WG are due by Dec. 11, 2022. The GB will select WG Leaders by the end of 2022.

Requirements to Participate in a Climate Accord Working Group

  1. WG participants at any level must be an individual member of iMasons. Membership is free or inexpensive. If you aren’t currently a member click here to apply.
  2. All WG participant roles are uncompensated volunteer roles. Chairs should anticipate spending 10-20 hours per month in that role.
  3. There are three levels of participation in a WG:
    • Chair – One individual selected by the Climate Accord GB to lead a WG who has primary responsibility to organize the work of the WG to provide the deliverables by the deadline. Applications are currently being accepted only for WG Chairs.
    • WG Ambassadors – A small team (3-7) of individuals selected by the WG Chair to support them and the work. The Ambassadors will be “voting members” of the WG and will determine the work products that go to the GB. Applications are not yet being accepted for Ambassadors.
    • WG Members – Individuals may join a WG as a member to contribute to the work, providing expertise, input and influence. Applications are not yet being accepted for WG Members.
  4. WGs may cooperate/collaborate with other bodies or organizations at their discretion to leverage and build on the work of others to accelerate progress.
  5. WGs may establish subordinate Working Groups focused on specific tasks and deliverables.
  6. Further rules and processes for management of the WGs and their relationship to the GB will be published as they are developed.
